The Good News: the risen Christ

The Good News is more than a proclamation, it is the whole new economy of salvation.

The two main elements of the Good News as preached by Paul were (is): his emphasis on monotheism (only One God), and the prominence he gives to the return of the risen Lord,

Ro 1:1-6   From Paul, a servant of Christ Jesus who has been called to be an apostle, and specially chosen to preach the Good News that God promised long ago through His prophets in the Scriptures.
This news is about the Son of God who, according to the human nature He took, was a descendant of David: it is about Jesus Christ our Lord who, in order of the Spirit, the Spirit of Holiness that was in Him, was proclaimed Son of God in all His power through His resurrection from the dead

Christ rose only because God raised Him, 1Thes 1:101Co 6:142Co 4:14Gal 1:1Ro 4:24Ro 10:9Acts 2:24+1Peter 1:2thus displaying His ‘power’, 2Co 13:4Ro 6:4Ph 3:10Col 2:12Ep 1:19; Heb 7:16; and because God raised Him to life through the Holy Spirit, Ro 8:11, Christ is established in glory as Kyrios ( ‘Lord‘ in Greek ),

Phil 2:9-11  Therefore God also has highly exalted Him and given Him the name which is above every name, that at the name of Jesus every knee should bow, of those in heaven, and of those on earth, and of those under the earth, and that every tongue should confess that Jesus Christ is Lord, to the glory of God the Father.

Acts 2:36  “Therefore let all the house of Israel know assuredly that God has made this Jesus, whom you crucified, both Lord and Christ.”

It is by His resurrection that Jesus has been constituted the ‘Lord‘ of whom Psalm 110 [Announcement of the Messiah’s Reign] speaks and theMessiah‘ ( Christ ) to whom  Psalm 16 [The Hope of the Faithful, and the Messiah’s Victory] refers to. From Psalm 2:7 [The Messiah’s Triumph and Kingdom] He’s declared Son of God, also Acts 13:33+Heb 1:5 [The Son Exalted Above Angels]; Heb 5:5,

Ro 1:4-6 NKJ  and declared to be the Son of God with power according to the Spirit of holiness, by the resurrection from the dead. Through Him we have received grace and apostleship for obedience to the faith among all nations for His name, among whom you also are the called of Jesus Christ;

all testified to His leadership and our Savior.  Acts 5:31 Him God has exalted to His right hand to be Prince and Savior, to give repentance to Israel and forgiveness of sins.

Believers of the Gospel of Christ are His new Israel, (His Spiritual Israel). His people Israel in rebellion/rejection of the true Messiah gave the Gentile nations the opportunity to get to know Him and spread the news. The Light of the World was in Israel, a small piece of land from the vast earth, our Heavenly Father called His own and upon them gave them the task to proclaim Him. The inhabitants were to spread His message of love and hope. They failed in their duty to enlighten, but God has not abandon them. Or anyone who comes to Him in faith and obedience.

We, as the whole of humanity can trace our ancestry to the beginning of life as proclaimed in the book of Genesis. Thereby we all are connected in His Spirit. We are all spiritual brothers and sisters in the faith and as such should love/agape one another. This is why when asked which is the greatest commandment, our Lord tells us,

Mat 22:37-39 Jesus said to him, You shall love the Lord your God with all your heart, with all your soul, and with all your mind.’ This is the first and great commandment. And the second is like it: ‘You shall love your neighbor as yourself.

These two commandments are the basis for all ten. The first four are about the worship of the One True God; the rest are about our respect for our neighbor [brother, sister, family, friend and foe].

Acts 10:42-43 And He commanded us to preach to the people, and to testify that it is He who was ordained by God to be Judge of the living and the dead. To Him all the prophets witness that, through His name, whoever believes in Him will receive remission of sins.

But not only believe but also through His Spirit living in us refrain from consciously committing offenses that hurt both ourselves and our Heavenly Father, separating us in rebellion to His grace and His promises. Coming to Him in prayer and sincerity of heart – repentance, and ‘sin no more’. For our Lord is both Judge and Lord of the living and the dead,

Ro 14:9 For to this end Christ died and rose and lived again, that He might be Lord of both the dead and the living.

While we still have breath live in a way that shows your good fruits. We are saved by grace and this grace shows in the way we conduct our lives, to the glory of the Father.

Our glorified Lord, deserving anew, this time in moral excellence, goodness, and righteousness of His messianic work, the name He had from eternity, ‘Son of God’. And through Him His followers will be called ‘children of God’. This time He comes with all His glory inwhich every eye shall see Him, to give to all their reward.

1Thes 4:1  Finally, brothers (and sisters), we urge you and appeal to you in the Lord Jesus to make more and more progress in the kind of life that you are meant to live: the life that God wants...
Live in holiness and charity i.e. LOVE

Be watchful while awaiting the coming of the Lord.  In love and honesty of who we are and what our purpose is from God’s prospective. Doing all you can to be respectful of person (both ourselves and others). We are set apart for this reason, truth carries us forward.  We are to emulate Christ Jesus, our body is the home of the Holy Spirit. Let us act as children of the Most High God, shining our light. Showing the world the love of Christ in us. Jesus loved/loves the individual and wants everyone to come and drink of the water of life He offers. He came to reconcile us all as rebellious children to His truth and His life.

The ‘Day of the Lord’ is coming, Let no one deceive you.

2Thes 2:9 But when the Rebel comes, Satan will set to work;

The Rebel is the instrument through which Satan works, 1Thes 2:18, and whom he endows with superhuman power rather as Christ endows His followers with His own Spirit. Satan has been copying everything of God, including Jesus’ good works and twisting it upside down.

2Thes 2:9-12  there will be all kinds of miracles and a deceptive show of signs and portents, and everything evil that can deceive those who are bound for destruction because they would not grasp the love of the truth which could have saved them. The reason why God is sending a power to delude them and make them believe what is untrue to condemn all who refused to believe in the truth and chose wickedness instead.

Don’t be caught unaware, as society revels in deception of all kinds. The father of lies prefers you to be entangled with anything and everything rather than God’s love and forgiveness, be Ye separate.

1Thes 2:13  For this reason we also thank God without ceasing, because when you received the word of God which you heard from us, you welcomed it not as the word of men, but as it is in truth, the word of God, which also effectively works in you who believe.

2Thes 3:16  May the Lord of peace Himself give you peace all the time and in every way, everywhere. The Lord be with you all.

The Good News is Christ has risen, has paid the penalty of sin, and wants all the inhabitants of planet earth to come out of the rebellious nature of darkness into the light of fellowship. In Him the Spirit of love and forgiveness is manifested.

Remember one of the passages says in the Lord’s prayer:  ‘..forgive us our trespasses as we forgive others their trespasses..’ and ‘If we confess our sins, He is faithful and just to forgive us our sins and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness.’  Lk 11:4 and 1Jn 1:9.

New life is freely given to all who believe in His truth and follow Him. As He told the woman who was caught in adultery, “Neither do I condemn you,’ said Jesus, ‘go away, and don’t sin any more.” John 8:11.  Salvation is in Christ alone!

Jn 14:6 …, I am the way, the truth, and the life. No one comes to the Father except through Me (Jesus).

Thank you for visiting 🙂 God bless
