the ‘day of the Lord’ pt1

The prophecy of the ‘day of Yahweh’, which will be a day of anger and salvation,

Amos 5:18-24  (Z)Woe to you who desire the day of the Lord!
For what good is (AA)the day of the Lord to you?
It will be darkness, and not light.
19 It will be (AB)as though a man fled from a lion,
And a bear met him!
Or as though he went into the house,
Leaned his hand on the wall,
And a serpent bit him!
20 Is not the day of the Lord darkness, and not light?
Is it not very dark, with no brightness in it?

21 I(AC) hate, I despise your feast days,
And (AD) I do not savor your sacred assemblies.
22 (AE)Though you offer Me burnt offerings and your grain offerings,
I will not accept them,
Nor will I regard your fattened peace offerings.
23 Take away from Me the noise of your songs,
For I will not hear the melody of your stringed instruments.
24 (AF)But let justice run down like water,
And righteousness like a mighty stream.

The prophecy of the ‘day of Yahweh‘ which will be a day of anger and salvation, will be fulfilled eschatological-ly in the ‘day of the Lord‘, when Christ returns in glory, 1 Corinthians 1:9  (M)who will also confirm you to the end, (N)that you may be blameless in the day of our Lord Jesus Christ. 9 (O)God is faithful, by whom you were called into (P)the fellowship of His Son, Jesus Christ our Lord..

On this ‘day of judgment‘, Matthew 10:15 Assuredly, I say to you, (A)it will be more tolerable for the land of Sodom and Gomorrah in the day of judgment than for that city [or you]! (cf Mt 11:22, 24).
Matthew 12:36 But I say to you that for every idle word men may speak, they will give account of it in the day of judgment.2 Peter 2:9 (A) (T)he Lord knows how to deliver the godly out of temptations and to reserve the unjust under punishment for the day of judgment, 2 Peter 3:7 But (A)the heavens and the earth which are now preserved by the same word, are reserved for (B)fire until the day of judgment and [a]perdition of ungodly men.  1 John 4:17 Love has been perfected among us in this: that we may have boldness in the day of judgment; because as He is, so are we in this world
(cf Micah 7:18).

The dead will rise again, 1 Thessalonians 4:13-18   But I do not want you to be ignorant, brethren, concerning those who have fallen [a]asleep, lest you sorrow (A)as others (B)who have no hope. 14 For (C)if we believe that Jesus died and rose again, even so God will bring with Him (D)those who [b]sleep in Jesus. 15 For this we say to you (E)by the word of the Lord, that (F)we who are alive and remain until the coming of the Lord will by no means precede those who are [c]asleep. 16 For (G)the Lord Himself will descend from heaven with a shout, with the voice of an archangel, and with (H)the trumpet of God. (I)And the dead in Christ will rise first. 17 (J)Then we who are alive and remain shall be caught up together with them (K)in the clouds to meet the Lord in the air. And thus (L)we shall always be with the Lord. 18 (M)Therefore comfort one another with these words.  The glorious coming of Christ on His ‘day’, at the end of time,  1 Corinthians 1:8-9  (M)who will also confirm you to the end, (N)that you may be blameless in the day of our Lord Jesus Christ. 9 (O)God is faithful, by whom you were called into (P)the fellowship of His Son, Jesus Christ our Lord.

Matthew 24:3-14  Now as He sat on the Mount of Olives, (E)the disciples came to Him privately, saying, (F)“Tell us, when will these things be? And what will be the sign of Your coming, and of the end of the age?”  And Jesus answered and said to them: (G)Take heed that no one deceives you. For (H)many will come in My name, saying, ‘I am the Christ,’ (I)and will deceive many. And you will hear of (J)wars and rumors of wars. See that you are not troubled; for [a]all these things must come to pass, but the end is not yet. For (K)nation will rise against nation, and kingdom against kingdom. And there will be (L)famines,[b]pestilences, and earthquakes in various places. All these are the beginning of sorrows.  9 (M)“Then they will deliver you up to tribulation and kill you, and you will be hated by all nations for My name’s sake. 10 And then many will be offended, will betray one another, and will hate one another. 11 Then(N)many false prophets will rise up and (O)deceive many. 12 And because lawlessness will abound, the love of many will grow (P)cold. 13 (Q)But he who endures to the end shall be saved (endure in God’s grace, not being part of the mayhem)14 And this (R)gospel of the kingdom (S)will be preached in all the world as a witness to all the nations, and then the end will come. 1 Thessalonians 2:19 For(A)what is our hope, or joy, or (B)crown of rejoicing? Is it not even you in the(C)presence of our Lord Jesus Christ(D)at His coming?  1Th 3:13 [S]o that He may establish (A)your hearts blameless in holiness before our God and Father at the coming of our Lord Jesus Christ with all His saints (saints: holy ones, angels [cf Mt 25:31; Mk 8:38).  1 Th 4:15  For this we say to you (A)by the word of the Lord, that (B)we who are alive and remain until the coming of the Lord will by no means precede those who are [a]asleep

1 Thessalonians 5:1-15 But concerning (A)the times and the seasons, brethren, you have no need that I should write to you. For you yourselves know perfectly that (B)the day of the Lord so comes as a thief in the night. For when they say, “Peace and safety!” then (C)sudden destruction comes upon them, (D)as labor pains upon a pregnant woman. And they shall not escape. 4 (E)But you, brethren, are not in darkness, so that this Day should overtake you as a thief. You are all (F)sons of light and sons of the day. We are not of the night nor of darkness. (G)Therefore let us not sleep (rest), as others do, but (H)let us watch and be [a]sober. For (I)those who sleep, sleep at night, and those who get drunk (J)are drunk at night. But let us who are of the day be sober, (K)putting on the breastplate of faith and love, and as a helmet the hope of salvationFor (L)God did not appoint us to wrath, (M)but to obtain salvation through our Lord Jesus Christ10 (N)who died for us, that whether we wake or sleep, we should live together with Him.

11 Therefore [b]comfort each other and [c]edify one another, just as you also are doing.
12 And we urge you, brethren, to recognize those who labor among you, and are over you in the Lord and [d]admonish you, 13 and to esteem them very highly in love for their work’s sake. (P)Be at peace among yourselves. 14 Now we [e]exhort you, brethren, (Q)warn those who are [f]unruly, (R)comfort the fainthearted, (S)uphold the weak, (T)be patient with all. 15 (U)See that no one renders evil for evil to anyone, but always (Vpursue what is good both for yourselves and for all.

2 Thessalonians 2:1  Now, brethren, (A)concerning the coming of our Lord Jesus Christ (B)and our gathering together to Him, we ask you,  James 5:7-8Therefore be patient, brethren, until the coming of the Lord. See how the farmer waits for the precious fruit of the earth, waiting patiently for it until it receives the early and latter rain. You also be patient. Establish your hearts, for the coming of the Lord [a]is at hand. 2 Peter 1:16 For we did not follow (B)cunningly devised fables when we made known to you the (C)power and (D)coming of our Lord Jesus Christ, but were (E)eyewitnesses of His majesty.  2 Peter 3:4 [A]nd saying, “Where is the promise of His coming? For since the fathers fell asleep, all things continue as they were from the beginning of (A)creation.”  2 Peter 3:10-18But (Q)the day of the Lord will come as a thief in the night, in which (R)the heavens will pass away with a great noise, and the elements will melt with fervent heat; both the earth and the works that are in it will be [d]burned up. 11 Therefore, since all these things will be dissolved, what manner of persons ought you to be (S)in holy conduct and godliness, 12 (T)looking for and hastening the coming of the day of God, because of which the heavens will (U)be dissolved, being on fire, and the elements will (V)melt with fervent heat? 13 Nevertheless we, according to His promise, look for (W)new heavens and a (X)new earth in which righteousness dwells. Man cannot create this new earth, man cannot create what is spiritual or the spiritual essence of Yahweh with carnal thinking.

14 Therefore, beloved, looking forward to these things, be diligent (Y)to be found by Him in peace, without spot and blameless; 15 and consider that(Z)the longsuffering of our Lord is salvation—as also our beloved brother Paul, according to the wisdom given to him, has written to you, 16 as also in all his (AA)epistles, speaking in them of these things, in which are some things hard to understand, which untaught and unstable people twist to their own destruction, as they do also the (AB)rest of the Scriptures. 17 You therefore, beloved, (AC)since you know this beforehand, (AD)beware lest you also fall from your own steadfastness, being led away with the error of the wicked; 18 (AE)but grow in the grace and knowledge of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ.

1 John 2:2-24  And (B)He Himself is the propitiation for our sins, and not for ours only but (C)also for the whole world. Now by this we know that we know Him, if we keep His commandments. He who says, “I know Him,” and does not keep His commandments, is a (C)liar, and the truth is not in him. But (D)whoever keeps His word, truly the love of God [a]is perfected (E)in him. By this we know that we are in Him. 6 (F)He who says he abides in Him (G)ought himself also to walk just as He walked.  7 [b]Brethren, I write no new commandment to you, but an old commandment which you have had (H)from the beginning. The old commandment is the word which you heard [c]from the beginning. Again, (I)a new commandment I write to you, which thing is true in Him and in you, (J)because the darkness is passing away, and (K)the true light is already shining. 9 (L)He who says he is in the light, and hates his brother, is in darkness until now. 10 (M)He who loves his brother abides in the light, and (N)there is no cause for stumbling in him. 11 But he who (O)hates his brother is in darkness and (P)walks in darkness, and does not know where he is going, because the darkness has blinded his eyes.

12 I write to you, little children,
Because (Q)your sins are forgiven you for His name’s sake.
13 I write to you, fathers,
Because you have known Him who is(R)from the beginning.
I write to you, young men,
Because you have overcome the wicked one.
I write to you, little children,
Because you have (S)known the Father.
14 I have written to you, fathers,
Because you have known Him who is from the beginning.
I have written to you, young men,
Because (T)you are strong, and the word of God abides in you,
And you have overcome the wicked one.  15 (U)Do not love the world or the things in the world. (V)If anyone loves the world, the love of the Father is not in him. 16 For all that is in the world—the lust of the flesh, (W)the lust of the eyes, and the pride of life—is not of the Father but is of the world. 17 And (X)the world is passing away, and the lust of it; but he who does the will of God abides forever.
(In prayer and in faith, give all [
our shortcomings and our sins] to Christ who is our redeemer. Through Him we have forgiveness, and pray always for strength not to commit them again.)

18 (Y)Little children, (Z)it is the last hour; and as you have heard that (AA)the[d] Antichrist is coming, (AB)even now many antichrists have come, by which we know (AC)that it is the last hour. 19 (AD)They went out from us, but they were not of us; for (AE)if they had been of us, they would have continued with us; but they went out (AF)that they might be made manifest, that none of them were of us. (But an era of faction and treason that continues til this day. Know the difference between error/a lie and truth.)

20 But (AG)you have an anointing (AH)from the Holy One, and (AI)you[e] know all things. 21 I have not written to you because you do not know the truth, but because you know it, and that no lie is of the truth. 22 (AJ)Who is a liar but he who denies that (AK)Jesus is the Christ? He is antichrist who denies the Father and the Son. 23 (AL)Whoever denies the Son does not have th(AM)Father either; (AN)he who acknowledges the Son has the Father also.

Let truth abide in you,

24 Therefore let that abide in you (AO)which you heard from the beginning. If what you heard from the beginning abides in you, (AP)you also will abide in the Son and in the Father. 25 (AQ)And this is the promise that He has promised us—eternal life. (with none of the current earth’s problems and decay, all will pass away at the coming of our Lord and a new heavens and a new earth will be established.)

Ezekiel 33:11 Say to them: ‘As I live,’ says the Lord God, (A)‘I have no pleasure in the death of the wicked, but that the wicked (Bturn from his way and live. Turn, turn from your evil ways! For (C)why should you die, O house of Israel?’ (the lost tribe).

1 John 2:26-28 These things I have written to you concerning those who try to[f]deceive you. 27 But the (AR)anointing which you have received from Him abides in you, and (AS)you do not need that anyone teach you; but as the same anointing (AT)teaches you concerning all things, and is true, and is not a lie, and just as it has taught you, you [g]will abide in Him. 28 And now, little children, abide in Him, that [h]when He appears, we may have (AU)confidence and not be ashamed before Him at His coming.

Isaiah 55:6  Seek the Lord while He may be found,
Call upon Him while He is near.

Isaiah 55:7 (A)Let the [a]wicked forsake his way,
And the unrighteous man his thoughts;
Let him return to the Lord,
And He will have mercy on him;
And to our God,
For He will abundantly pardon.

May our Lord awaken the sleepiness of each of us to the reality that will be coming. And may we be found wearing Jesus Christ’s robe and our slate clean on the day we’re presented to give an account.

To Him be the glory both now and forever. Amen.

I used the New King James Version in the verses above. Also left all the cross references (cf) from the Bible verses intact for further study. God bless, in understanding the hour is late and depending on who’s side you’re in, will determine your ultimate destiny. Only you have the power to decide (it’s an individual act of chose; NO one can decide for you). God knows each of our hearts, may He find your slate clean by the blood of our Lord and Savior Yahushua HaMashiach/Jesus Christ (the Anointed One). Receive the Word with all readiness of mind and search the Scriptures daily.

This research was a bit longer than my usual and so it’s divided into two parts. As always thank you for taking the time to read, digest and pray. With God’s understanding and wisdom, may He find us eagerly yet patiently awaiting His arrival. Peace be with you all!

Thank you for visiting 🙂 Blessings always

    1. Most certainly! For the redeemed a glorious one, entering the banquet that was promised. Not just of food and merriment but of life eternal with our rightful King, after all the turmoil experienced a welcome lasting change. Woe to the ones who see no error in their ways, who refuse to accept His pardon/forgiveness, His love. They will carry their guilt, their sin with them to the judgment seat and give an account there of.
Thank you for stopping by and leaving your thoughts. God bless you.
