If it is in your power to do so, do. Jesus Himself was baptized [full immersion], and we are called to emulate Him. However if one cannot be baptized, (like the thief crucified next to Him), know God will understand why you were not able too. Trust Him, He knows your heart. Though it’s not a reason not too if one can.

Sweetie, the baptism of water, I think, was the water that flowed from His side with the blood. He was baptised because it was a custom of the Jews for the High Priest to be cleansed before he took office. Christ Jesus is now our High Priest and the last. He was sinless therefore our baptism is a result of salvation not to salvation. We are saved by Grace ‘so no man can brag.” Ty. :))

TY for your comment, and forgive the confusion in my statement regarding baptism. I have given your thoughts consideration and realize where it may be construed differently from what I intended.
I meant in baptism we commit ourselves to God, showing in Whom we believe in, stand for and follow. We put away (bury in a watery grave) our carnal thinking, attitude, and worldly behavior and rise a new person in the Spirit of Christ. ‘Identifying ourselves with His death, burial and resurrection’. It’s about Him and our growing relationship with Him and the Father. Baptism is not salvation, but shows our commitment to His sacrifice and gift of grace. We’ve come out of the world and entered the kingdom of God. Jesus never commanded baptism in order to be saved. But told us in (John 3:3-7) ‘You must be born again’. There are two births, one physical born of water, the other of the Spirit; one is of the flesh the other is of God. Hence His piercing was both water and blood. He gave the command to His disciples to baptize in the name of the Father, Son, and Holy Spirit, (Matthew 28:19). He was without sin yet, part took in the custom for many reasons, including showing us to bury our sins (our old self) in a watery grave and rise a new creation in Christ, His Spirit in us. The Comforter helps us in our journey to become more Christ-like. I believe it shows respect and along with your changed heart.
The custom you speak of is called Tanakh, where priests were required to be immersed. Another is ‘tevila’, pronounce ‘teh-vee-lah, in Hebrew. A ritual of cleanliness, purification and sanctification, which was part of the Jewish life and done on special times of the year, (more in-depth see http://www.jewishjewels.org/news-letters/water-immersion-the-jewish-root/%5D. ‘This was a spiritual cleansing indicating a change in status as well as separation unto the Lord, with both physical and spiritual aspects. An outward act was required to demonstrate an inward change. There were many laws of purity and impurity that included immersion’, before it was ever called baptism. Our Good Lord as High Priest, as you mentioned part took of this custom and also tells us ‘to be born again’. In the site above, it will give you history and facts to make this point clearer.
I have since rewritten that bit of confusion and thank you for pointing it out. My intent was not to confuse anyone but to inspire. Thank you again sweet one 🙂
