City of Peace

a.k.a (also known as),

  / (dʒəˈruːsələm) /  [ ji-roo-suh-luh m ]

‘The name “Shalem”, whether as a town or a deity, is derived from the same root as the word “shalom”, meaning peace, so that the common interpretation of the name is now “The City of Peace” or “Abode of Peace“. ‘

The Lord God speaking;

2 Chronicles 6:5-6 NKJV  ‘Since the day that I brought My people out of the land of Egypt, I have chosen no city from any tribe of Israel in which to build a house, that My name might be there, nor did I choose any man to be a ruler over My people Israel. Yet I have chosen Jerusalem, that My name may be there, and I have chosen David to be over My people Israel.’

 5-6 TJB  “From the day I brought My people out of the land of Egypt I chose no city, in any of the tribes of Israel, to have a house built where My name might make its home, and chose no man to be prince of My people Israel; but I chose Jerusalem for My name to make its home there, and I chose David to rule over Israel My people”.

in other words,

5-6 TLB ‘I have never before, since bringing My people from the land of Egypt, chosen a city anywhere in Israel as the location of my Temple where My name will be glorified; and never before have I chosen a king for My people Israel. But now I have chosen Jerusalem as that city, and David as that king.’

Therefore when you pray for Israel particularly Jerusalem, you are praying for the City of Peace.

(how awesome is that!)  Maranatha!

Psalm 41:13   Bless the Lord, the God of Israel, who exists from everlasting ages past—and on into everlasting eternity ahead. Amen and Amen!

Thank you for visiting 🙂 Be blessed!

  1. Actually, the present city of Jerusalem is not the city of peace that it once was. Now it is a city of slavery, and spiritual Jerusalem is the city of peace, and we who believe in Jesus Christ are that city, God’s Holy City. Please read:

    “For it is written that Abraham had two sons, one by the slave woman and the other by the free woman. His son by the slave woman was born according to the flesh, but his son by the free woman was born as the result of a divine promise. These things are being taken figuratively: The women represent two covenants. One covenant is from Mount Sinai and bears children who are to be slaves: This is Hagar. Now Hagar stands for Mount Sinai in Arabia and corresponds to the present city of Jerusalem, because she is in slavery with her children. But the Jerusalem that is above is free, and she is our mother…

    “Now you, brothers and sisters, like Isaac, are children of promise. At that time the son born according to the flesh persecuted the son born by the power of the Spirit. IT IS THE SAME NOW. But what does Scripture say? “Get rid of the slave woman and her son, for the slave woman’s son will never share in the inheritance with the free woman’s son.” Therefore, brothers and sisters, we are not children of the slave woman, but of the free woman.” ~ Gal. 4:22-31

    This is talking about physical Israel, the Jews, and the city of Jerusalem. Overall, they have rejected Jesus Christ as Lord and Messiah, so they are in slavery, and they will not share in the inheritance with the children of promise, who are us who have believed in Jesus Christ. Those who deny Jesus is the Christ are the antichrist, scripture teaches. And, they are persecuting those who do believe in Jesus. So, if you want to pray for Israel, pray that they will believe in Jesus and that they will be delivered out of their slavery to sin, for they, right now, are not the children of promise because they have denied Jesus Christ, and they don’t believe in God, because he is Father, Son and Holy Spirit. I know some Jews do believe, but the vast majority don’t. So, pray that they will be saved and have eternal life with God.

    1. Thank you stopping by and leaving a comment. I agree with you and I should have stated, ‘the city of peace’ as being the celestial one. The true city of God, the new Jerusalem coming from the heavens. The one the saints will occupy.

      We pray for Jerusalem, the new we patiently await and the old to be awaken from their slumber in accepting Jesus the Messiah.

      Thank you again for the clarity. God bless you wholeheartedly 🙂 Maranatha!
